About UsEclectic Monkey was established in 2007 as an internet boutique. The idea was born from a love of travel and the experience of different cultures. Artisans of many countries use age-old techniques and skilled craftsmanship to produce beautiful and useful handicrafts and jewellery. I love to acquire unusual objects and the collection is growing. In 2010 Eclectic Monkey opened a retail shop in historic downtown Orillia. Orillia is a popular tourist destination during the summer months being situated on two lakes in the heart of Ontario’s cottage country. Canadian winters can be long and every year at this time exotic travel beckons and the collection grows. Being a jewellery maker myself I understand the struggle of artisans trying to support themselves by their craft. I have adopted fair trade practices for Eclectic Monkey to help ensure sustainability for artisans and to help them to preserve their cultures and natural resources.
